Wanaka Campground Hits the Headlines with Solar!

The Apricus solar hot water installation at Lakeview Holiday Park, Wanaka has been highlighted in the press as a leading example of sustainable design and construction, while delivering better than ever performance.

Lakeview Holiday Park had a complete rebuild of their kitchen, dining room and ablutions block – with a focus on efficiency, comfort and sustainability. Working closely with our local partners May Plumbing and the Park’s owners, Apricus put together a custom-designehttps://tobyr13.sg-host.com/central-otago-solar-installers/d system to deal with the freezing winter conditions and huge hot water demand in summer.

Installed in March, the Apricus system has already saved enough energy to run an average NZ home for 12 months! Even in winter the system is providing nearly 40% of the energy to heat water, reducing the Holiday Park’s carbon emissions by 1,865 kgCO²e or 3.6 trips from Cape Reinga to Bluff. This helps off-set some of the emissions from all our overseas visitors’ campers.

The owners are understandably stoked with the system. “It’s great. I’ve had my first gas bill to compare with last year and it almost went down to half and we were a lot busier this year than last year,” says owner Aggi Sanders.

The Apricus evacuated tube collectors are a perfect choice, delivering high efficiency performance despite often freezing conditions. Check out the latest performance data with our live monitoring here.
