Helping those who help others

Here is a sneak peak of a fantastic solar hot water system we are delighted to be involved in.

At Apricus we are committed to helping as many people as possible to harvest solar energy and benefit from free hot water.  It is even sweeter when we get the opportunity to do this with a valuable member of the community who is working hard to help others.  So we are delighted to be installing a large solar hot water system to help with the important mahi the Manaaki Ora Trust deliver.

Manaaki Ora Trust in Rotorua deliver a huge range of health services focused on Māori health, including alcohol and other drug addictions counselling.  They are establishing a community treatment centre, Te Whare Oranga Ngakau, for the treatment of alcohol and other drug addictions.  This large, live-in centre on Ngongotaha Road, Rotorua will open in the new year and start helping up to 32 people at a time to get over their addiction.

Apricus and Dave Hughes at CHP Engineers designed a solar hot water system that will provide around 60% of the annual hot water use for the centre.  Our local installers, Renewable Energy Limited, are currently installing the Apricus solar hot water system with eight solar collectors and 1,125L of storage.  We’ve got live monitoring in place so once it is commissioned we will provide updates on how this system is working and what experiences this fantastic organisation are having with solar.
